If you’re craving chips and dip but don’t want to compromise your healthy diet, reach of some buckwheat crackers with herby edamame dip instead. Both buckwheat groats and edamame are packed with protein, making them an ideal option to help ward off hunger. Buckwheat groats also filled with nutrients like zinc, copper, manganese, and magnesium. Plus this dip is so creamy and flavorful, you’ll likely forget that it’s actually healthy.
Don’t forget the easiest, healthiest snack of all: raw fruits and vegetables. Keep a fridge full of fresh produce and you’ll automatically be prompted to snack well. A few of my favourites are frozen grapes, cucumbers, carrots, snap peas, apples, bananas and in the summer fresh berries. You can always pair with them nuts and seeds to make a more substantial snack.
With a bit of prep work, smoothies make for great quick and healthy breakfasts every morning. Wash, chop, and freeze all ingredients in “smoothie packs,” or baggies pre-measured for just one smoothie. Put anything that doesn’t go into a freezer (like the milk or leafy greens) into a glass jar or baggie in the fridge. Then, dump everything into your blender, and let it go to work. You can sip while you dress, or take it with you in a lidded container.
One is sweetened with maple syrup (or any liquid sweetener), and the other is sweetened with jam. I used a fruit juice sweetened jam in my fave flavor–blueberry. I am partial to the jammy version as it has better texture and extra fruit flavor, but I wanted to give you options. Plus some flavors (ahem…orange) aren’t easy to find in a jam. Both of the recipes can serve as templates for making any flavor you like. Just switch up the type of juice or jam and you can have snacks of just about any fruity sort.
Low-Carb Tortilla and Cheese – Low-carb tortillas can truly be a life-saver on the ketogenic diet, and there’s almost no quicker hot snack than a cheese roll-up.  Throw your favorite cheese in, toss some spices on (we love pepper jack cheese and a little bit of cayenne pepper to spice things up), microwave it until melted, and enjoy.  Mama Lupe’s tortillas are near indistinguishable from normal tortillas, as are the Low-Carb tortillas from Mission.  Most supermarkets seem to carry a low-carb option or two in their tortilla department nowadays, so add it to your grocery list.
Oatmeal is a complex carb, meaning it helps fill you up without spiking your blood sugar. Plus, it's a good source of fiber and eating more fiber helps people lose weight and keep it off. While we think of it typically as breakfast, a small bowl of oats makes a hearty, filling and delicious snack. To make this snack more convenient-keep a packet or two of unsweetened instant oatmeal at your desk or make overnight oats in a mason jar.
It's as simple a snack recipe as can be, but unusually satisfying: For a twist on plain homemade popcorn, try drizzling it with olive oil and sprinkling it with za'atar, the heady Middle Eastern spice blend of oregano, thyme, sesame seeds, and tart sumac. My cousin the fitness trainer is a vegan and he orders my vegan baked goods all the time. I really like the recipe options you offered because I think many of the store-bought snacks are unhealthy. I prefer to make my own vegan crackers, chocolates, cookies, etc. I even make them sugar-free! Easy peasy. Mix a little plant-based protein powder with water or almond milk to create a thick pudding then top it with your favourite fruit and a sprinkling of nuts or seeds. I love cherries or strawberries and almonds, sliced banana and walnuts or chopped apple and hemp seeds. To make a peanut butter protein pudding, add 2 tbsp of powdered peanut butter to vanilla protein and mix with water to make a thick, mousse-like pudding.
